Ever since I got this ice scramble recipe I have been wanting to try it for awhile now but the temperature here has been chilly because of the winter season. Spring is almost here and the temperature is close to 60. Ice scramble is like a pink smoothie but it does not taste strawberry or cherry at all. I can say a lot of us on our thirties have tried this when we were young. And to most of us, it was one of those forbidden street food because our parents said that it was not good for us. We usually see them being sold outside our school when we were kids. In a very hot weather especially those who are in the Philippines, I have been following your posts in Facebook regarding the summer heat. Well, hopefully this will ease out that heat for awhile. You don't have to spend a lot, you may probably have some of the ingredients on your kitchen. Or you can buy them at your local sari-sari store. How I missed going to the nearest store to buy a thing or two that I needed. Well, it was worth trying this recipe! Now I can make ice scramble at home anytime I want it. You can use your blender to make a smoothie and mix the ingredients. Or you can use snow cone machine/ice shaver then mix the ingredients.
Ice Scramble Recipe
Ingredients:
1 cup Evaporated milk (I use Carnation)
2 tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp banana extract/flavoring
6-8 drops of red food color (adjust to desired shade of pink)
3-4 cups crushed ice
***Optional Toppings
powdered milk
chocolate syrup
mini marshmallows
candy sprinkles
rice crispies
Procedure
1. In a bowl, mix evaporated milk, banana extract, red food color and sugar.
2. Add in shaved ice and mix thoroughly. You may opt to use your blender for this step.
3. Place in serving glasses or cups.
4. Top it with powdered milk and chocolate syrup and whatever toppings you have in your pantry.
5. Serve immediately.
Enjoy, Ice scramble...My Style!
